Mtskheta is an ancient city
The ancient city of Mtskheta is located in the center of the intersection of two rivers Kura and Aragvi, 20 km away. from the city of Tbilisi in the north. It was founded in the V century BC.
In ancient times, this city was the center of trade routes. Mtskheta is also considered a spiritual part of Georgia. Saint Nina lived here and spread the Christian religion.
The city has preserved ancient buildings that are considered an architectural landmark. Part of the fortress of Bebristsikhe also survived.
