The international exhibition FITUR-2021 opened its doors accompanied by the King and Queen of Spain and the Prime Minister of Georgia.

One of the grandest events in the tourism industry annually gathers more than a hundred thousand spectators and dozens of travel companies. On the dates from May 19 to May 23, informational meetings with representatives of the media and the international tourism sector are planned. Last year, 165 countries participated in the event.

The Georgian stand in Madrid is marked with special banners, and videos about local tourist sites and places will also be shown on the main monitor of the exhibition. Among other things, participation in the online exhibition has been approved, which will be valid from May 5 to June 4.

Irakli Garibashvili: "The current situation around the world suggests that people are gradually restoring their former, pre-quarantine regime. This is certainly a signal that we should be ready for the mass appearance of tourists. It is a great honor for me to attend the opening of FITUR-2021 and represent my region."

The Prime Minister noted that vaccination of the population is of great importance in the issue of restoring tourism, as well as the responsible attitude of citizens to the epidemiological situation in general.

This is a great opportunity for the country to establish the most affected by the pandemic recreation industry in Georgia, where more than 150 thousand people have become unemployed.
