Georgian Airways launches direct flights from Tbilisi to St. Petersburg
On December 10, Georgian Airways will begin operating direct flights between Tbilisi and St. Petersburg, according to the official website of the carrier. Flights on the Tbilisi - St. Petersburg route are scheduled twice a week, specifically on Wednesdays and Sundays.
This event is a positive step after the Russian Federation lifted the ban on direct flights with Georgia in mid-May, which was introduced in 2019. The first flight after the lifting of the ban took place on May 19 and was performed by the aircraft of the Russian airline Azimuth, and on May 20, the Georgian Airways plane headed to Moscow. Since mid-July, the Russian airline Red Wings has also started operating flights.
The introduction of direct flights by Georgian Airways improves the connection between the two cities, providing travelers with more options and convenience. The resumption of regular air services is a positive step in improving bilateral relations and developing economic and cultural ties. Passengers can now count on a more affordable and efficient way to travel between Tbilisi and St. Petersburg.
