Batumi is the leader in the number of tourists: the expert predicts a record August

The popular resort town of Batumi in Adjara, Georgia, expects to become the leader in the number of international travelers visiting the country this August. This is confidently predicted by an expert in the field of tourism, Niko Kvaratskhelia, who also notes the successful start of the summer tourist season, officially opened in the Black Sea region of Adjara on June 4. Interest in Batumi is constantly growing, and the number of international visitors has already exceeded 1.2 million. This year, it is expected that more than four million tourists will visit this beautiful region.

In addition to internal tourist flows, the Astoria Grande cruise ship, which connects Sochi with Turkey and makes a call at the port of Batumi, also has an impact on tourism in Georgia. On the first flight on July 22, the liner brought more than 850 passengers on a week-long cruise, which has a positive impact on the economy and entertainment infrastructure of the city. Not only do more tourists visit Batumi, but the cruise visitors themselves have higher financial capabilities, which contributes to the development of restaurants and entertainment venues in the region.

The tourist flow to Georgia is mainly determined by visitors from neighboring countries such as Azerbaijan, Armenia, Turkey and Russia, which make up about 80% of all tourists. According to forecasts, the month of August will be richer and more popular than July, attracting more tourists to various parts of Georgia.

The past year has been remarkable for Georgian tourism, when 3.6 million tourists visited the country, which is 131.6% more than in 2021, and showed a 71.9% recovery to the levels of 2019 before the outbreak of the pandemic. Georgia is expected to set a new record for the number of tourists in 2023.

Thus, the visits of international travelers to Georgia continue to grow, and in the first half of 2023 increased by 75.9% compared to the same period in 2022, exceeding 2.8 million. Georgia actively attracts tourists, and the increase in the flow of neighboring countries contributes to the prosperity of the tourism industry in this region.
