The monument to Galaktion Tabidze stands on the street of the same name in the center of Kutaisi, between the Red Bridge and the Rustaveli Bridge, at the entrance to the B. Gabashvili Central Park. The sculpture depicts the poet at a moment of creative inspiration: the figure of the Muse leans over Galaktion.
Galaktion Tabidze, one of the leading Georgian poets of the 20th century, was born in 1891 in the village of Chkvishi near Kutaisi (in his autobiography, the poet himself gave his birth year as 1892). His contemporaries called him the "king of poets." Having survived Stalin's repressions, he passed away in 1959 in Tbilisi. Streets named after him can be found in Tbilisi, Kutaisi, and Batumi.
