Georgia's shops with a wide range of goods
How retail works in Georgia
Georgia's retail infrastructure is well developed — particularly in Tbilisi and Batumi. Everything is available here: from small neighbourhood shops to modern shopping centres and international chains.
Retail formats. Groceries are most conveniently bought at chain supermarkets: Carrefour, Smart, Goodwill, and Agrohub are major networks with wide product ranges and loyalty cards. Residential areas have many small local shops where you can often find homemade cheeses, spices, and locally produced goods at market prices.
Payment. Bank cards are accepted almost everywhere, including small shops and markets. Contactless payment is widespread. It is still worth having some cash for markets and smaller retail outlets outside the centre.
A note on prices. Food — especially local produce such as fruit, vegetables, dairy, wine, and spices — costs noticeably less than in most European countries. Imported electronics and appliances and branded clothing are comparable in price to Europe or slightly more expensive due to logistics.
Opening hours. Large supermarkets and shopping centres are open daily, often until 23:00 or around the clock. Smaller shops tend to open later and may close earlier. Some shops operate on reduced hours on public holidays. You can find shops, shopping centres, and specialist retailers by city in the Madloba catalogue.
