Georgia and China Eastern discuss more flights to Tbilisi
Georgian Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Tamar Ioseliani met China Eastern Airlines Executive Vice President Wang Qingchao during a working visit to China. The ministry reported the meeting on 4 November 2026. The talks focused on developing air links between the two countries.
Both sides spoke warmly of the regular Shanghai-Tbilisi flights, which the airline has already started operating. Participants described the route as in demand and well filled. The airline said it is ready to raise the frequency of its Georgia services and to consider additional flights. For flight planning, there is a guide to Tbilisi airlines.
They also discussed what else could be offered to the airline's passengers: further tourist destinations, plus Georgian Railway and ground transport services. Georgian Railway Director General Lasha Abashidze took part. Travellers sorting out costs can read answers on trip budget for typical questions.
The Georgian side again stressed its aim of strengthening air links with China and making full use of the economic opportunities of direct flights. Shanghai was described as a key financial and economic centre, important for tourism and trade. Seat purchase is explained in a ticket buying guide.
