A church of the Virgin stands in the village of Tezi. In Kartli a dedication to the Virgin is the commonest after St. George, and a single village often holds more than one such church.
Tezi lies in the hills of Shida Kartli north of the Mtkvari, away from the highway. The village holds four shrines: the church of Kviratskhoveli stands about six hundred metres away, the village church nine hundred, another Tezi church a little further. Beyond the next ridge, at Ksovrisi, stands a church of the Dormition with a chapel of Sts Peter and Paul. Kaspi is about ten kilometres away.
The name of the village is easy to confuse with Tedzami in the neighbouring district, while the churches of Tezi itself are told apart by dedication. Dress modestly and keep quiet inside; village doors are not always open, but the building can be seen from outside. In spring the field roads soften, in summer the approach is easier.
