The St. George shrine stands in Gardateni village of Gori Municipality. Salotsavi is the Georgian word for a place of prayer: people come here outside services as well.
Gardateni lies south of Gori, by the entrance to the Ateni gorge. The St. Nino church and a Virgin Mary church stand in the same village.
The shrine can be approached at any time. Candles and modest offerings are left here; gifts of others are not touched, and the place is treated with care.
