The church in Gardateni of Gori Municipality is known as the Green Sakdari: mtsvane in Georgian means green, and sakdari is the folk word for a church.

A church of the same name stands in Tkemala some fourteen kilometres away, so it is worth checking the village when searching. Gardateni lies south of Gori at the mouth of the Ateni gorge, and shrines cluster here: the St. Nino church, a church of the Virgin and a folk shrine of St. George.

Regular services may not be held, and the church can be approached at any time. Modest clothing is appropriate, and candles and offerings are left in their places.
