The old chapel in Toria village stands on a hilltop and looks unusual: a low, ill proportioned building laid dry of uneven basalt. The reason lies in its double life: a shepherd shelter and a chapel are mixed here, and the architectural forms came out uneven because of it.
A pedestal bearing the image of a cross survives inside, its lower part crumbled into fragments, and a Georgian Asomtavruli inscription is carved there. That is the main thing left of the church part proper.
Remains of small stone benches lie around, also laid dry, and fenced terraces are built of the same stones, three of them stepping down the southern slope. Tradition holds that in one troubled time the village used the chapel as a shelter.
