The Tviberi church of St. George stands by Svipi village in Zemo Svaneti. The Svan name Jgrag Kachrish is added to the dedication here: jgrag is what Svaneti calls St. George, and the name is met all over the area.
Svipi lies in the Enguri valley, fifteen kilometres from Mestia. Shrines are many here: the church of the Saviour works in the village itself, the place of prayer of Jesus Christ stands nearby in Ghvebaldi, and a little further begins the group of Lezgara churches.
Small Svan churches rarely hold regular services, yet the shrine can be approached at any time. Follow the coordinates.
