The church is known by a single word, without a dedication. No second name has stayed with it, and in the Racha villages, where parishes outnumber working services, such cases are not rare.
Znakva lies four kilometres from Khvanchkara and six from Ambrolauri, in the wine growing part of the Racha valley. The sakdari of the Saviour of the same village stands about a kilometre away, the church of Kedisubani three, the painted church of Bugeuli a little over three.
The road here is easy, the valley wide and settled, with vineyards along both sides: Khvanchkara has given its name to one of the best known wine appellations of the country. The building is viewed from outside, and getting in is not always possible. Dress modestly, keep quiet inside; it is worth asking locals for directions, for signposts are few.
