More than one church has survived in the Tsikhisdziri locality, and they are known together, as a group of late medieval churches.
The early medieval church of the same locality stands only ninety metres away, and the church of St George in Dzveli Kanda about eight hundred and fifty. The name of the locality means the foot of a fortress, and the whole district lies in the hills above the Mukhrani plain.
Walk between the buildings with care: the old masonry holds poorly and the grass hides stones underfoot. You can come at any hour, there are no gates, but the place remains holy and should be treated so.
