The Shankevani naeklesiari is the site where a church once stood. Nothing of the building survives, and neither a name nor a dedication has stayed with the place.
The church of St George in Shankevani itself stands about a kilometre and a hundred and seventy metres away, the Arashenda church two kilometres off, and the church of St George in Saguramo three and a half. Hills lie all around above the Mtskheta valley.
The site is open, there are no gates, and you can come at any hour. There is little to see here beyond the place itself, so people call in more for the sake of a full round of the district. Behave by the naeklesiari as at any shrine.
