To the name of this Saskhori church the word ukughma is added, which in Georgian means the wrong way round. What exactly it describes is not explained here, yet it has stayed firmly with the church.
The Saskhori district is the tightest in these parts: the church of St George in Saskhori stands about three hundred and sixteen metres away, the Geri chapel four hundred and sixty, the parish of Our Lady of New Nichbisi five hundred and ten, and the Kvemo Nichbisi church six hundred.
The church is rural and its gates are opened by arrangement. The rules are the usual ones: covered shoulders and knees, a headscarf for women, quiet. Five shrines of the district fit into a circle of a little over a kilometre and can be walked in an hour.
