The church is known by the place name Vanati. Its state is described in different ways, in one place as a working church and in another as ruins, and only an inspection will show what stands there today.
Three close names should not be confused here. The village of Kvemo Bolnisi, the town of Bolnisi and the famous Bolnisi Sioni are three different places; our church belongs to the village, which lies three and a half kilometres south of the town.
Come with the expectation of seeing it from outside and with care for the building: where part of the walls is lost the masonry may be unsound. The usual rules apply here too.
