The old church in the Uzunkala locality stands without a name: whom it was dedicated to has not come down to us, and only the name of the tract itself is known. Uzunkala means long fortress in Turkic, and such names are common in Kvemo Kartli.
The spot lies south of Bolnisi, beyond the built-up area. Six hundred metres away stands the church of St Nino in Kvemo Bolnisi, so the two shrines are convenient to see together.
There are no regular services here and the place is open. Fields lie around, the road is a dirt one, and in rain it is better to walk the last part.
