The church of the Mother of God stands in Tandzia, north of Bolnisi. The building is a village one, without a bell tower, yet its parish is alive and the place is well known in the district.
Sixty metres away stands the sakdari of St George, and this is the closest pair in the whole area. Their dedications differ, which is why the two are counted as separate shrines. Another church of the cluster, the church of St Nicholas in Dzedzvnariani, lies four hundred metres off.
There is no fixed order for visits, and getting inside is arranged with the neighbours. All three shrines can be walked in about fifteen minutes.
