The church of Peter and Paul stands on a high hill near Akhalsopeli village in Tetritskaro Municipality. In plan it is a regular rectangle of about twelve and a half metres by seven, closed on the east by a deep semicircular apse separated from the hall by side walls. Sources assign the church to the 10th and 11th centuries.
Both outside and within, the building is laid of skilfully hewn golden ashlars, and that warm tone reads from a distance. Inside, the smooth planes of the walls are enlivened by restrained decoration, with the imposts and brackets picked out.
A two stepped pilaster divides the long walls into two unequal stretches. Two pairs of wall arches, resting on brackets in the middle, pass into the larger one, while the smaller held a single pair of which only the northern survives. One more stepped pilaster stands on the west wall. An arched window on the east and a semicircular window between the arches of the south wall gave the light, the north wall is blind, and the entrance is on the south.
