A church of Saint George in Kushchi. The dedication is the most frequent in Georgia: George is honoured as a soldier and protector, and his feast, Giorgoba, is kept twice a year, in spring and in autumn.
Kushchi lies in the west of the region, closer to the Tsalka upland than to the lands of Bolnisi, and the village holds a single shrine. The nearest neighbours in the area are the scattering of prayer places at Avranlo, about four kilometres away.
Kushchi fits well at the start or the end of a route round Avranlo: only a few minutes' drive separate them. The usual rules apply: covered shoulders and knees, quiet, and a headscarf is useful for women.
