The chapel of the Transfiguration belongs to the Greek Orthodox tradition. That is rare for these parts: most rural shrines of the district are Georgian, and Greek traces are met more often in village names than in the buildings themselves.
It stands in Sarkineti, with the church assigned to the neighbouring village of Ganakhleba, north-east of Dmanisi. Greek families lived in this part of Kvemo Kartli for centuries alongside Georgian and Armenian ones, and such neighbourhood of traditions is ordinary here.
There are no regular services here, and the place is open and accessible at any time. If you step inside, remember that the order here is kept by the villagers themselves.
