The chapel is dedicated to St Nicholas, patron of travellers and sailors, called simply Nikoloz in Georgian villages. The building is small, with no parish and no bell.

It stands in the western part of Sabechisi. The neighbours are close: the ruins of the church of the apostles Peter and Paul two hundred metres to the east, the chapel of the prophet Elijah at about the same distance, the ruins of the St George church a little farther, and the chapel of St John the Baptist at the other end of the village.

There are no regular services here and the place can be visited at any time. It is open, with no fence and no gate.
