The church is known by the name of the village, which appears in two spellings, Opreti and Ophreti. No dedication is given for it, and that is the commonest situation for rural churches in the southern part of the region.
Opreti lies in the south of Kvemo Kartli, close to the state border, about twenty kilometres from both Bolnisi and Kazreti. The neighbourhood here is thinly populated, the roads wind, and the villages stand far apart.
There is no fixed schedule of services and the site can be approached at any time. The rules are those of any working church: covered shoulders and knees, quiet. The place needs no trip of its own, but allow more time for the drive than the distance suggests: the last stretches are often unpaved.
