The upper of the two neighbouring churches of Mamkhuti. Their names speak for themselves: one upper and one lower, told apart only by their position on the slope. No dedication has stuck to either.
Only eighty three metres lie between the churches, so both are seen in a single stop. Another shrine of the village, the church ruins, stands about three kilometres away and has to be driven to separately.
Such a tight pair is rare in these parts, where village shrines are usually scattered more widely. The rules are those of any working church: covered shoulders and knees, quiet, and a headscarf for women.
