The chapel of St. Sophia stands in Beshtasheni village of Tsalka Municipality. It is a small village shrine, a place to light a candle and pray; regular services are not held here.
Beshtasheni lies on the Tsalka plateau, in the upper reaches of the Khrami river, not far from the Tsalka reservoir. Holy places cluster here: the St. George church is active nearby, and the St. Elijah chapel stands a little to the east.
The chapel can be approached at any time. Modest clothing is appropriate, candles and offerings are left in their places, and the interior deserves careful treatment.
