The church is known by the name Balakhauri, while the lands around belong to Kosalari: the name attached to the church from a locality, and the village with an address turned out to be the neighbouring one. Such a mismatch of name and village occurs constantly in Kvemo Kartli.
No dedication is given for the church. It stands away from the built-up area, in the hilly neighbourhood between Bolnisi and Tetri Tskaro, among pastures and fields. The roads here wind, and the villages stand far apart.
There is no fixed schedule of services and the site can be approached at any time. The turning to the church is unpaved, and after rain it is better to walk the rest of the way. The rules are those of any working church: covered shoulders and knees, quiet inside and in the yard.
