The active church of the Virgin Mary serves the parish of Zemo Magharo village. The doors are open every day from morning to evening, which is uncommon for village churches.
The village lies west of Sighnaghi, on the slopes above the Alazani valley. A kilometre away stands the Zguderi basilica, and further along the village the Kashveti church.
Modest dress suits a service, and a headscarf helps for women. Visiting hours may change on feast days.
