This church of St George has come to be known as Kashveti. The famous Tbilisi church carries the same name, which by tradition is linked to the birth of a stone, ka and shveta in Georgian.
Zemo Magharo village lies west of Sighnaghi, among the hills above the Alazani valley. The village holds other churches too: a Virgin Mary church and the Zguderi basilica.
There is no regular schedule; the doors are opened for services. Modest dress is appropriate for a visit.
