This is a nunnery, and it is declared precisely as a complex rather than a single church: several buildings gather under one name. The name of the community comes from Zemo Khodasheni, while the neighbouring lands belong to Atsquri, and the two toponyms sit right beside each other here.
The monastery stands in the foothills west of Telavi, away from the main road, in the Akhmeta municipality. Telavi is about thirteen kilometres away, Akhmeta fifteen. Some five kilometres to the north stands a Saint George church of the same name, and less than a kilometre away a Kviratskhoveli church.
The community is active, so the rules are stricter than in a village church: covered shoulders and knees, a headscarf for women, quiet in the yard and inside. Photographing the sisters is not done. The turn off the road is short but unpaved, and after rain it is better walked.
