The church is known by the short name Rejakhi, and what lies behind it, the name of a locality, an old nickname or the memory of a family, cannot be said reliably. No dedication has become attached to the building either, and we will not invent an explanation.
It stands south of the main built-up area of Akhasheni, apart from the other churches of the village, right by the vineyards. Akhasheni holds half a dozen Christian buildings, and Rejakhi is the furthest of them: for a traveller walking the village in full it makes a natural final stop.
The approach runs along a dirt road that turns to mud after rain. There are no explanatory signs; treat the walls with care. Dress soberly, women bring a headscarf.
