The church of the Virgin with the qualifier Onanauri stands in Leliani. The additional word most likely points to a locality or a quarter within the village: such qualifiers are common in Kakheti and serve to distinguish churches of the same dedication.
Leliani lies east of Gurjaani, along the road towards Lagodekhi, in the eastern part of the Alazani valley.
