The church of John the Baptist stands in the northern part of Leliani. In Georgian his name is Ioane Natlismtsemeli: the epithet natlismtsemeli literally means the one who gives baptism and renders the Greek Baptist precisely.
In the same village, about two and a half kilometres to the south, stands the church of the Virgin with the qualifier Onanauri. Leliani lies east of Gurjaani, along the road towards Lagodekhi, in the eastern part of the Alazani valley. Further east begins the Lagodekhi reserve, the oldest in Georgia, with its waterfalls and beech forests.
The church is open from morning to evening, so you can call in at almost any hour of the day. Dress with shoulders and knees covered, a headscarf for women, and speak quietly on the grounds.
