A sakdari is a village or family church, and such churches often bear the name of a locality instead of a dedication. Here the name is Mijna, and in Georgian the word means a boundary or a march: whether it stands for a place name or points to the church standing at the edge of the village lands is not explained by local tradition.
Vazisubani lies on the Alazani plain north-west of Gurjaani, among vineyards, and holds several sanctuaries. About six hundred metres away stands another church of the same kind, with a name instead of a dedication, the Churchlis sakdari, and two kilometres off a church of Saint Elijah.
No regular services are held here and the site can be approached at any time. The church stands at the edge of the village lands, by a field track, and the approach turns to mud after rain: it is then better to leave the car and walk the rest. The three sanctuaries of the village can be walked in an unhurried hour.
