A salotsavi is a place of prayer, an independent type of revered site in the Georgian tradition: neither a parish church nor a chapel, but a spot where people come to pray and bring candles. A salotsavi usually has no schedule of services at all, and that is normal for the type.
The name Lomisa is known above all from the famous shrine in Mtianeti, climbed on Lomisoba, but this is a different place: the south of Kakheti, the Dedoplistskaro municipality, the steppe of the Shiraki plain close to the border. Only the name coincides. The same village holds a salotsavi of Peter and Paul, half a kilometre away.
The site is open and can be approached at any time. The Shiraki steppe is dry and hot in summer with almost no shade, so bring water. The roads here are unsurfaced and heavy after rain. The salotsavi is treated with the same care as a church: without noise and without unnecessary touching.
