Another Kviratskhoveli church, that is a church of the Resurrection. All it shares with the church of the same name in Kvemo Alvani is the dedication: the villages differ and lie at opposite ends of Kakheti, one by the mountains, the other on the plain.
Shashiani stands on the Alazani plain north of Gurjaani, among vineyards. The church is in the central part of the village. Besides it, Shashiani holds a Trinity church to the east, while between Shashiani and neighbouring Kalauri stands the monastery of John the Baptist.
There is no fixed schedule of services at the church, but the village is lively and getting inside is usually possible. The rules are those of any working church. The roads in the village are level, and the three sanctuaries of the neighbourhood can be driven round in an hour if you plan a stop on the way from Gurjaani to Kvareli.
