Iakhsari Sakdari stands three kilometres southwest of Matani village in Akhmeta Municipality, beyond the canal on a wooded slope. It is a hall church with a two storey tower set against it from the west, and both buildings are laid of flat stone and cobble of varying size on lime mortar.
The plan of the church is rectangular and closed on the east by a flattened apse: a window with an architrave is cut on its axis, a square opening sits to the side, and one more window is set in the north wall. An altar stone stands in the sanctuary, and the foundation of a stone gallery can be read beside it. The hall is covered by a vault, but there is no conch over the apse. A doorway with an architrave is made in the western part of the south wall, and the sloping roof is already overgrown.
The tower is built as a four sided prism narrowing slightly towards the top and covered by a pyramidal roof. The masonry is tight, and several well polished stones survive of the cornice. The entrance to the ground floor is on the south and the door is arched. The ground floor is a small square room with a spherical covering that carries a cross at its centre.
