This church stands in the western part of Matani. No name of its own has survived in recognisable form, so it is called by its position, and the dedication remains unknown.
Matani counts about nine church buildings, more than any other village in the area. Its western part is especially dense: here also stand Akhali Khati, whose name translates as new icon, and the Bzianebi sakvdari at the very edge of the village. To the east, in the middle part, are the church of Saint George and that of Saint Nino with the chapel of the Virgin.
The church keeps no fixed schedule and can be approached freely. It stands by an unnamed village road, so you will have to find it by local landmarks. Dress with shoulders and knees covered.
