The Damasti church stands in Matani village in Akhmeta Municipality. It is a very small building, about five metres by three and a half, laid of cobble and brick, and it has no apse at all.
The villagers themselves later put the church in order: the walls were plastered with cement mortar and whitewashed inside and out. The entrance leads through a porch, the door is arched outside, and the arch itself is set into a rectangular niche with a stepped brick frieze.
One narrow arched window is cut in the east wall, and a small rectangular niche is made in the eastern part of each of the south and north walls. Inside, the church is covered by a flat wooden ceiling, and outside by a gabled slate roof. Sources assign the building to the late Middle Ages with later alterations.
