The church of St. Demetrius stands in Tskalshavi village of Chiatura Municipality. Around here the church is called the Red Church, and this folk name has stuck to it firmly.

Tskalshavi lies in the hills in the southeast of the municipality, not far from Kveda Beretisa with its St. Nino church. The name of the village is made of the words for water and black.

Visiting is free, and modest clothing is appropriate for a service. If the church is closed, locals will tell you when services are held.
