A parish church of Saint Nicholas, the second in the village. The difference in dedications makes the pair a logical one: George and Nicholas are the commonest patrons in the country, and villages often take both, sharing them out between their halves.
It is about two and a half kilometres from the Saint George church in the Zarnali quarter to here. Shomakheti lies in the hills of eastern Imereti above Chiatura, off the tourist routes, and the parish keeps to its own circle. The century of building is not established.
The parish is rural and services are infrequent. Dress modestly, women wear a headscarf. The roads in these hills are unpaved, so plan the trip for dry weather.
