A parish church of Saint George, the main church of the village. The dedication is the commonest in the country, and in Sakurtse it belongs to the church around which community life is built.
Sakurtse lies in the eastern part of Imereti, in the hilly belt between Zestafoni and Sachkhere. The village is small, yet besides the Saint George church it holds another church about a kilometre away. The century of building is not established and no builders are recorded.
The yard is open and the church can be approached on any day; for village churches that usually means an accessible yard and porch rather than permanently unlocked doors. Dress modestly, and women customarily cover their heads.
