A parish church of Saint George, the only one in the village. The dedication is the commonest in the country, and in small Jonia it belongs to the main church of the community.
Jonia lies in the mountainous part of Imereti north of Kutaisi, in Tkibuli Municipality, on the approaches to the Tkibuli ridge. The road climbs, and as it does the orchards give way to wooded slopes. The century of building is not established and no details have survived.
The parish is small and there are no regular services. Dress modestly, women wear a headscarf. The climb is better done in dry weather: the last stretch is a village road.
