A village church of the Most Holy Mother of God, the church of a small village. Little is known about it: the dedication, the type and the fact that it is in use; no one names a century of building.
Godogani lies north-east of Kutaisi, in the same foothill belt as Gelati and Motsameta but well away from their fame. The village lives an ordinary rural life and the tourist flow passes it by. The area holds other religious buildings too, including the holy places of the Nagarevi locality.
The parish is rural and there are no regular services, so a Sunday morning is the surer time to come. Dress modestly, women wear a headscarf. Godogani is easy to combine with a trip into the Gelati district, which lies close by.
