A parish church dedicated to David and Constantine Mkheidze. By church tradition the princes of Argveti led resistance to the Arab invasion and died refusing to renounce their faith. For Imereti these are among the most venerated saints, and a church in their honour here is entirely in place.
The relics of the martyrs rest in the monastery of Motsameta near Kutaisi, whose very name means the place of the martyrs. Etseri lies in eastern Imereti, off the main road. Motsameta has another related church as well, the ruins of the Lazarus church. The century of building of the Etseri church is not established.
The parish is rural and services follow the church year. Dress modestly, women wear a headscarf. The trip is easy to combine with a visit to the Motsameta district near Kutaisi.
