Poti Museum of Colchis Culture is a historical museum founded in 1933 and located at: st. May 26, 9, Poti, Municipality of Poti. The museum has the status of a legal entity of public law (LELP) under the Ministry of Culture and Monument Protection of Georgia since 2008.
The museum's collection represents archaeological finds of historical Kolkheti (Cholcha, modern Western Georgia) with a chronological period from the 3rd millennium BC. until the VII-VIII centuries. AD In the building, built in 1907, visitors can view a variety of objects: from a collection of non-ferrous metals (from antiquity to the Middle Ages) to a numismatic collection with gold coins of Alexander the Great and Justinian. The exhibition also includes a silver bowl with images of birds, an ethnographic collection (late 19th – early 20th century), as well as documents and photographs telling the history of Poti. A branch of the museum is the Niko Nikoladze Museum, also located in Poti.
Open daily except Mondays from 10:00 to 17:00. Ticket prices are as follows: for adults – 1 GEL, for students and schoolchildren – 1 GEL, excursion cost – 3 GEL. Admission is free for children under 6 years of age, employees of Georgian and foreign museums, ICOM members (with a card and ID), as well as for people with disabilities upon presentation of a valid ID, as well as for refugees.
