World Reading Aloud Day
Georgia takes an active part in this holiday, accepting the reader's challenge for the seventh time.
To make reading popular and enjoy the opportunity to read to the whole world — these are the tasks of the holiday.
The holiday will be held on February 2, with the support of the Association of Book Publishers and Book Distributors of Georgia.
The slogan of the event: "Read aloud, change the world!" more than a hundred countries take part, and this is more than thirty million people.
The format, as in 2021 — online, the coronavirus epidemic has made its own adjustments. Many public organizations will take part in the celebration, of course, they will support educational institutions — schools and universities.
The "Defender of Books of the Year" award established in 2016 is now awarded annually. People who are actively involved in the implementation of literacy in Georgia are recognized as worthy of this title.
Last year the award was given to Nino Kasradze, the year before last to the Bookshelf project, in 2019 it was received by M. Khazaradze, in 2018 by T. Chkheidze, in 2017 by Formula Creative, in 2016 by L. Berdzenishvili.
