Restoration of unique artifacts: Georgia brings historical heritage back to life

The historical heritage of Georgia comes to life thanks to large-scale restoration of artifacts that have remained untouched until now. Experts are restoring about a hundred unique items brought from the Dadiani Palace in Zugdidi, Samegrelo – Zemo Svaneti region. According to information received from the Rustavi 2 TV channel, these artifacts are now in the Palace of Arts in Tbilisi.

Among the valuables undergoing restoration are personal items of the last ruler of Samegrelo Ekaterina Chavchavadze, as well as items belonging to her daughter Salome Dadiani and her husband Prince Ashil Murat. Experts are also working on a unique portrait of Prince Nikoloz Dadiani, the son of Catherine, as well as on personal hygiene products of monarchs whose age exceeds two centuries.

Artifacts of the XIX century, which were in poor storage conditions, experienced the negative influence of mold and mildew. Experts are making every effort to preserve their original appearance, restoring damage and restoring the former beauty of each exhibit. Restoration has become an integral part of the work of the Palace of Arts and they, together with experienced restorers, have been continuing their efforts for the third month.

In addition, the project also includes the restoration of icons that previously belonged to the chapel of David Dadiani and Catherine. These icons have great historical value and are an integral part of the region's heritage.

The aim of the restorers is to return the objects of the XIX century to the Dadiani Palace and present them in a fully restored form at the first exhibition. These efforts are aimed at preserving and transferring Georgia's historical heritage to future generations and emphasize the importance of preserving the country's cultural wealth.
