Prestigious literary award "Saba": Finalists in different categories

The Saba Literary Award of Georgia has announced a list of finalists in various nominations. This is an important event in the world of Georgian literature, where contemporary writers, poets, publicists, essayists, translators, playwrights and critics compete.

In the "Best Novel of the Year" category, the fight promises to be intense:

- "Fragrance of the Rose" by Zaza Burchuladze

- "Romeo Laughed" by Rati Ratiani

- "Mascarapone" by Iva Pezuashvili

- "The Book of Bones" by Tamara Poladashvili

- "Fast, Night" by Zura Jishkariani

- "We, Turmelebi" by Tamri Pkhakadze.

12 applicants were selected in the nomination "Best Literary Debut":

- "The Beginning of the End" by Irakli Arishvili

- "Where The Ships Are Sunk" By Otara Bitsadze

- "The Sovereign of Rio de Janeiro" by Gode Gorgiladze

- "Zaodi" by Elsa Gurgenidze

- "No Poetry" by Gio Zedvakeli

- "Blue Screen of Death" by Irakli Machitadze

- "New Old News" by Eki Maharashvili

- "My Field Has Turned into a Swallow" by Gogi Kobalia

- "For a Minute in Space" by Anuka Shatakishvili

- "Basement Wives" by Anna Javakhishvili

- "Sagzali" by Elsa Javakhishvili

- George Dzhambury's translation of Heiner Muller's plays.

In the nomination "The Best Play of the Year" the competition is also high:

- "Black and White" by Tamar Bartaia

- "Holy Parts" by Valery Otkhozoriy

- "The Six Arks of Noah" by Ekaterina Togonidze

- "Marie with Juan" by Beso Khvedelidze

- "We are playing the 'Educator'" by Bas Dzhanikashvili.

In the nomination "The Best Essay and Nonfiction of the Year":

- "Another Afghan Diary" by George Abdushelishvili

- "1921-1990 (The History of One Person and a Country)" Levana Berdzenishvili

- "Galaktion Without Censorship" by Teimuraz Doiashvili and Natia Sikharulidze

- "Slaves Are Not Allowed in Paradise" by Rati Mujiri.

Among other categories we note:

- "The Best Prose Collection" among which are "You Who Are in the Attic" by Luka Bakanidze and "Life Insurance" by Nino Tarkhnishvili.

- "The Best Poetry Collection", where 12 authors will compete.

As well as "The Best Translation of the Year into Georgian", among which are "Romeo and Juliet" by David Akhaladze, "It Seems Esther" by Maya Badridze and many others.

The Saba Literary Award of Georgia is an annual event designed to celebrate the achievements and talent of many authors in the world of Georgian literature. This award is a landmark for the literary community of the country and continues to contribute to the diversity and richness of culture.
