Amazing data on Georgian tourists visiting Armenia in 2023

The impressive statistics of the tourist flow from Georgia to Armenia over the past year cannot but surprise. In 2023, about 250 thousand Georgian tourists visited this amazing country, as stated by the head of the Armenian Tourism Committee, Sisian Poghosyan, referring to data provided by Sputnik Armenia.

The increase in the number of tourists visiting Armenia from different countries is impressive: 2.3 million tourists visited the country last year, which is an increase of 20% compared to 2019 and 39% compared to 2022. As noted by Ms. Poghosyan, 50% of all visitors came from Russia, which is a significant share and an indicator of the country's popularity. But Georgia and Iran occupy the second and third places, respectively, attracting 11% and 6% of the total number of tourists. The United States ranks fourth with a 3% share. But it is very interesting that Indian tourists, most of whom come through Dubai, make up 1.5% of the tourist flow, and this is an important achievement for Armenia. For the first time in the country's history, China entered the TOP 10 with a 1% share. This fact testifies to the growing attractiveness of Armenia as a tourist destination.

In parallel with the increase in the number of visitors, in December 2023, the Armenian parliament adopted a bill aimed at developing tourism. This law provides for stricter control over tour operators and mandatory exams for guides. This is an important step towards improving the quality of services and creating a safe and comfortable space for tourists.
